I had to try Flour Bakery after all of the recipes that I have tried from Joanne Chang's "Flour" cookbook. The bakery is gorgeous and delicious-smelling inside so it was a nice retreat from the brisk east-coast fall day. I was looking for things to try from her cookbook so I bought some of the oreos (creme was colored orange for Halloween), a lime cornmeal cookie and brioche au sucre. We also picked up some huge sandwiches on homemade crusty white bread and creamy tomato soup (so it wasn't all sugar...). Everything was amazing. I was especially impressed by the lime cornmeal cookie as I never really thought that combination would be good. I am calling it the margarita cookie from now on because it is a bit sugary from the glaze but still tarty from the lime juice/zest so it resembles the flavors in a margarita...or I am just always thinking about cocktails :-)
Highly recommend you try this place if you are ever in Boston! They have more than one location, the original bakery is the one located in the South End.
